Organ Hymn Festival

Seminary Presents Organ Hymn Festival

In partnership with The American guild of Organists, Memphis Theological Seminary presents an organ hymn festival featuring organ, brass and liturgy on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., St John’s Episcopal Church at 3245 Central Ave.  This event is free and open to the public.

The seminary is making plans to accept the Union Avenue United Methodist Church Moller Pipe organ and store it until it is resurrected in the free-standing Hamilton Chapel to be built by the seminary in a few years.  This Moller organ has delighted and inspired audiences and congregations with music from its 27 ranks of pipes for more than eighty years.

The Organ Hymn Festival will feature music by several organists and other musicians, readings by faculty of Memphis Theological Seminary, and a homily by MTS president Dr. Jay Earheart-Brown.
