Andrew C. Thompson joined the faculty at MTS in 2011. He teaches in the areas of historical theology and Wesleyan studies. Dr. Thompson’s academic research focuses on the role of the “means of grace” in the Wesleyan theology. He is the author of academic articles that have appeared in Methodist History, the Wesleyan Theological Journal, and Methodist Review. He is also the editor and lead contributor for Generation Rising: A Future with Hope for the United Methodist Church (Abingdon Press, 2011). Dr. Thompson is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Prior to arriving at MTS, he served pastoral appointments in Tennessee, Arkansas, and North Carolina. A part of his role as a member of the MTS faculty is to strengthen ties between the seminary and the annual conferences of the UMC.
